Peranbu discusses one of the most sensitive things and an under-explored theme in films — female sexuality of a girl affected by cerebral palsy, and how as a parent, one learns to cope with society.
Father, Amudhavan realizes how gifted he is to take care of his daughter, who is a spastic child. He knows she gets wild over the smallest things. Talk about the frustrations of being not fully understood. Sigh. Anger is pretty much a part of their expression because the differently-abled can’t easily camouflage their feelings
Mammootty as a caring father, It is amazing how a Superstar , sheds his stardom and showed passion to the challenging script. Sadhana as Paapa, delivers her role the best. She will stay in your mind even after the movie. Transgender Meera’s character was handled brilliantly. Anjali did her caretaker character smoothly.
On the technical front, Theni Easwar's frames breathe into life and make us a part of the scene, which is required for a film like this. Yuvan's score complements the scenes really well and adds emotional value to the film. Kumar Gangappan's art direction and details deserves a special mention Director has given one of the best climax you can have.
Peranbu ends up as Ram's best and most detailed work till date. He has taken up a premise that very few films have taken, and has delved deep into it. While showing the inside of cerebral palsy person, Ram is also showing the difficulties that a caretaker undergoes in raising them.
Ram tells us that the differently abled community don't need our sympathy to survive. They have their own needs that can be achieved through love and affection between humans.
In case, if this movie is not your type, but, it will still make a deep impact in your mind. It will remind you how gifted our lives are.
It is a must watch movie.
